Welcome to Wellness Warrior Weekly, fellow wellness seekers.

Each week, I am going to try out a wellness tip or trick, seeing if it actually makes a difference for me. This idea came to me for two reasons: 1. I am really focused on getting in the best shape of my life (physically, emotionally, etc.) before I turn 30 and 2. I am nosy AF and love to read about people's routines and the things they do in the name of health and wellness.

For the first experiment in this series, I committed to something I had only dabbled with in the past: the apple cider vinegar shot first thing in the morning. In the past few years, I've been better about incorporating ACV (what the cool kids are calling it) into my diet, via sauces and dressings, but I usually wimped out when it came to throwing it back like a shot of flavored Smirnoff vodka in high school or a Vanderpump Rules star at a cast dinner.

Since I knew I didn't want to force myself to take a shot of it each morning and would rather find a way to actually enjoy adding this to my routine, I decided to go the mocktail/elixir route, pulling from Tone It Up's detox plan.

ACV mocktail:
8 oz. water
1/2 medium lemon, squeezed
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
dash of cayenne pepper

So how'd it go? Well, I challenged myself just to do it for a week, and have continued to do it for quite some time. While I can't say I have noticed any major changes, I love that I start the day drinking water, with the added bonuses of the lemon {promotes digestion and helps your body absorb vitamin c + potassium}, cayenne {can help boost metabolism} and, of course, the star: ACV {which can lower blood sugar, reduce cholesterol, help prevent diabetes, promotes weight loss and can control the weather. Allegedly}. I did read some studies about apple cider vinegar's acidity possibly hurting your stomach and damaging your teeth but 1. I was recently complimented on my teeth by my dentist {#humblebrag} and 2. I feel like all of the other ingredients help counteract any of those potentially negative side-effects. At least  that's what I tell myself as I sip on it while getting ready in the morning.

Incorporate or Eliminate: This has already worked its way into my morning routine, so I'll be sticking with my ACV mocktail for the foreseeable future.
